"Nowhere Man"

Someone asked me the other day where in the area is a good place to eat. My answer was "Nowhere Man." Of course, I was kidding. My bucket list for eating is to eat at 12 New places (spots I have never been) and eat at 52 Different places within the year. In June, I just ate at two New spots #6 and #7, putting me ahead of schedule, and here is my thoughts on these two places.

#6 - Taco Dive - BJ's score 3.5 (Great to Excellent)

Interesting name for a restaurant. The Taco Dive is located in Downtown Melbourne in the same site that use to be Cryderman's BBQ. It was on my dining list but not real high. My cousin Jon Carey recommended after we had played gold at Crane Creek, once known as the Melbourne Municipal course. Things change but kind of stay the same. That is my cousin sticking out his tongue as I captured the sign for the Dive. Scott Ingram, married to Jon's twin sister Joan, also joined us after golfing.

Unsurprisingly, the menu had a lot of Tacos on it. Any taco can be made into a rice bowl. They also had some appetizers, salads and sandwiches. I think the place started in Fort Pierce and there are currently five locations including Vero Beach and Melbourne.

They also had a Brunch menu that is served only on Sundays, the day we happened to be playing golf. They close at 3 pm on Sundays.

I ordered two tacos, the Beef and the Cajun Shrimp (on the right). The left one contained seasoned ground beef and the normal toppings. The shrimp were spicy with a nice kick. It was drizzled with the house sauce Chipotle Lime.

We sat at the bar and drank beer. They do not have a beer menu but  have an ever-changing chalk board with the daily taps. Jon ordered the Brunch Burger...he said it was great.

I definitely will be back to try some of the other tacos at the Taco Dive.

#7 - Crush XI - BJ's Score 4.5 (Excellent to Memorable)

After a few beers at the Key West Bar in IHB, I was ready for dinner but did not want to head back to Nomads, my current go-to place. Instead I headed downtown to Crush XI (that's an eleven) for some fine dining. I assumed there would be no crowd on a Wednesday. It was just before 5 and it was Happy Hour. They had both drink specials and here are the food HH specials.

The menu was fancy and having never been here, I was not sure what to get. The bartender Chloe was a great help in answering my questions.

They only had 3 beer taps but there were lots of wine taps. I did watch Chloe make a lot of Old Fashions, I guess it is a drink special. I did try both beers on the left. The Intracoastal Dragon Point is served at every bar in Brevard County.

I ordered the Medjool Dates off the HH food menu. A date wrapped with bacon and stuffed with goat cheese. That is grilled pineapple and unknown greens. It was fabulous.

They have a full liquor bar with some interesting garnishes along the bar. The right most one was a liquor soaked black cherry. I asked Chloe but forgot which liquor she said. She put one on the Old Fashions she was making.

I took a picture of my beer and happen to catch Chloe walking by. When I arrived I asked her if it was Happy Hour and she said yes. I asked what did the entail and she said I had to look Happy.

Chloe recommended the Smoked Duck Fettuccini but I decided to go with the Creamy Shrimp Orecchiette. The little ear pasta with red shrimp, Andouille sausage, kale in a creamy sauce. It was delicious and very filling.

After I was served my entrée, I realized I forgot to order the side Caesar, and Chloe got my order in immediately. The dressing was a real Caesar, there was a raw egg warning.

After two beers, four dates, salad and full meal, I had to find the bathroom. It was just down the hall from the bar and I immediately knew I was in the right place with this painting behind the urinal. Don't they look jealous?

Although the place is not cheap, the menu has many items I want to try. If you would like yo go there sometime, let me know.

2025 Dining Summary

I am still maintaining a dining spreadsheet. This is the pivot table of the restaurants I have been at so far this year, sorted by City and Type. The last column is the number of visits.

You see that I have been to Nomad's Canteen the most six times so far in 2025. I have included a photo of the Indo Shrimp Bowl I had on Friday the 13th. It was very good...

I am just a Nowhere Man, looking for another restaurant to eat at in 2025.

About Title

"Nowhere Man" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles. It was released in December 1965 on their album Rubber Soul, except in the United States and Canada, where it was first issued as a single A-side in February 1966 before appearing on the album Yesterday and Today. The song was written by John Lennon and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. In the US, the single peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also released as a single in some countries where it had been included on Rubber Soul, including Australia, where it topped the singles chart.

Recorded on 21 and 22 October 1965, "Nowhere Man" describes a man with no direction in his life and with no genuine worldview. It is one of the first Beatles songs to be entirely unrelated to romance or love, and marks a notable example of Lennon's philosophically oriented songwriting. Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison sing the song in three-part harmony. The lead guitar solo was performed in unison by Harrison and Lennon. The pair played identical "sonic blue"-coloured Fender Stratocasters on the track. The song appears in the film Yellow Submarine, where the Beatles sing it about the character Jeremy Hillary Boob after meeting him in the "nowhere land". The song was also played throughout the Beatles' 1966 US tour and their 1966 tour of Germany, Japan and the Philippines.

It was always one of my favorite Beatles songs.
