Going to a Wedding in Vermont - Part VI

Saturday has come, the day of the wedding.  Lisa had put out the continental breakfast again and I had coffee, orange juice, and another bowl of the Vermont Greek yogurt; with cantaloupe and strawberries. The only unusual thing on the counter was a note for Izzy and Kayla from Lisa with the list of things that needed to be done.

Izzy came down and was adamant not to see Kayla, so for the next seven hours their would be a game of who is where. One of the tasks for Izzy was to complete the gifts the guests would receive; a pint glass commemorating the event filled with two heart-shaped maple candies in a small bag tied up with blue ribbon, the color for the wedding. Problem was that the glasses were in the bedroom where Kayla currently was.
Izzy texted Kayla who was getting ready to take a shower to lock herself in the bathroom so he could get the gifts. All went well except one thing. Kayla told me Izzy was suppose to tell her when he was done and gone and he did not. She said she sat in the bathroom for a while waiting for the okay. Sounds like something a married couple would do!

My job for the day was to be a go-between of Izzy and Kayla. Kayla was at the Inn getting ready (you know, bride stuff) and Izzy was at the Barn getting ready (you know, drinking beer). I must have walked between the Inn and Barn at least ten times that day. I helped Izzy fill his car with the pint glasses. We took them down to the barn. We also took the lawn games down.

The Inn was for hair and make-up. I would be no help there but I did take some pictures. Kayla said "Snap away!"

I was not comfortable hanging out with the girls. I was to deliver a check to Izzy from Kayla for the flowers.

Back at the Barn, Izzy was bitching that he could have done his task a month ago.  I found out from Steve Dow that the maple candies would have turned white if he had done it too early. Plus, it was keeping Izzy busy. No, Ben is not working on Izzy's hair, he is helping with the maple candy bags.

I saw that the crew had finished with the tables. It was going to be Charlie's job, first day at work, to place the glasses and candy on the tables. The tables were looking very nice!

I saw that Izzy was intently finishing up the candies and I caught one of my favorite photos.

Ben had brought his daughter Maddie (Madeline) down to the Barn and Lisa was treating her grand-daughter to some of my brother John's frosting. John was in charge of frosting the small wedding cake; Izzy was in charge of the rest of the desserts. Maddie was not sure what the white stuff was but her face lit up when she tasted it!

Of course, no bias here, but John can make beautiful roses from that frosting. Lisa said that they looked like "porcelain flowers".

Back to the Barn. Ben and Izzy were still working on the gifts. Maybe a game of pool?

Th official photographer asked Izzy and Roland to put on their chef coats. I happen to be outside of the kitchen and caught this beautiful moment. Chef was pulling Basil leaves off the plant...

The lawn games were set up too. Cornhole anyone?
Cornhole ready!
I made it back to the Inn one more time and now the Make-up session had started. That is the professional photographer on the left. He asked me to get a few pictures of him.

Even the mother of the bride Rachel was getting some touch-ups, as if she needed any!

I changed into my dress shirt and pants with a tie and socks. First tie in two years of retirement. Another trip back to the Barn. The chairs had been set up for the ceremony. It was 2 PM...wedding at 3...
