Eat Lunch at the Preacher Bar

Image
There was suppose to be a SpaceX launch today, so I decided to head up to Cape Canaveral early so I could have a late lunch at the Preacher Bar.  It is a new restaurant for me and I had heard about it from my friends Shari & Chuck, who recently went there on a mini pub crawl. Entrance to the Preacher Bar It has only been open since November 2014.  It is right next door to Kelsey's Pizzeria, who happen to be the owners of both places.  The Pizzeria was doing well so they decided they wanted a bar. I think they share the kitchen. The menu came out as a large square menu...(sorry the picture is so dark but it is a bar; all pictures were taken with my phone although my Canon camera was sitting in the car, 40 feet away) Lunch & Dinner Menu at the Preacher Bar The shape and size was weird but felt sort of familiar.  I turned it over and who was looking at me? Back of menu at Preacher Pub It was Olivia Neutron Bomb...I mean Olivia Newton-John. All the menus are fr

Find Unexpected Art

On my beach walk today (May 26), I always take my camera to capture great wildlife photos. There are always birds and many times things wash up onto the beach. But today, I saw some rocks along the dunes that looked like people had stacked. I took two pictures from the water line and decided I would get a closer view on my way back to the car. Stacked rocks at the dune line There also was some type of animal made from driftwood. Animal made from driftwood  Upon my return trip down the beach, I got closer to the rock and wood displays and found out it was actually nice art that somebody or some group had spent time on.  The Trojan horse actually looked more like a camel when I got closer. Maybe it was the sunglasses; I still have these images of Joe Camel from when I was younger, trying to sell me Camel cigarettes. The coconut feet just added to the beauty of this artistic creation. Is it a Camel?  I am not sure if my interpretation is correct, but I see a camel. Maybe it

Visit two new Breakfast Restaurants

I went to Jetty Park on Sunday morning to take pictures and just enjoy the scenery. After my walk, I decided I would go someplace for lunch.  I stopped across from the Baja Grill and used my phone to search for a restaurant on Google Maps. I had been to most places in the Port area but was thinking about trying the Preacher Pub in Cape Canaveral.  I was having trouble getting information on the place but noticed a new sushi place at the port. I thought, at least check the place out. As I drove down toward the sushi place, I saw that there were no cars in front, maybe it was too early for lunch so I kept driving.  Just down the street was a new place with signs waving. Outside of Charlie's Cafe It looked like it was open so I stopped. It was not even in the Maps application as a place to stop so I knew it was pretty new. It looked okay and there were cars. I stopped. I am glad I did.  They are only open for breakfast and lunch but I was searching for something new.  The menu

Listen for Thunder on the Beach

Image
Two years ago, I went to my first Thunder on Cocoa Beach. This year was the seventh annual holding of this event. Last year I tried to go but it was so crowded that I gave up trying to find a parking spot. This year, I decided to go a little earlier and, what do you know, I found a spot. It was not easy. The traffic in Cocoa Beach is usually pretty bad, but when a big event like this is happening, it gets a little worse than normal. I think they expected 80,000 people this year. The event lasts for five days but Sunday is race day. It has become kind of the Space Coast version of Daytona's Speed week . Sunday is when our "500" is held. I thought I would try parking near the pier again. The race starts there and heads south toward Lori Wilson Park and the boats traverse back and forth between buoys set up in the Atlantic Ocean. I like to see the boats turn, they just go really fast the rest of the time. Parking was $20 at the pier and the car line was long. I thought I
