Visit from my brother Tom

Image
My brother Tom had driven down to Florida to visit friends in Sarasota. He asked if he could spend a few nights with me and I said of course. Here are some of the things we did in his short stay (four nights) with me.... Tom arrived around 1 PM on Wednesday, March 15. I took this photo with my new one-shot camera... Tom in my messy home I said that we should get some lunch so I drove him to Cocoa Beach and we stopped at the SandBar. I was in the mood for shrimp tacos. The place was very crowded for a cold day (temperature near 60 F) so we each got a beer but no food. Next, I drove up to Port Canaveral where we went to Fishlips. Tom ordered a beer and I ordered a Bloody Mary. This was one of my favorites on the Bloody Mary quest, so reason not to have another. Bloody Mary at Fishlips We ordered some appetizers and I ordered a bowl of their clam chowder. All food was delicious! On Thursday morning, we drove over to the Sun on the Beach Restaurant in Satellite Beach. It was

Buy a New Camera

As most people know, I love taking photographs and collecting the pictures. In this digital age, it is easy to hit 50,000 pictures and more, and trying to decide what to keep becomes an ever time-consuimg job. So, why I would want to buy another camera seems kind of crazy, but that is what I just did. I saw that the local Walmarts were having a sale on point-and-click cameras. There was a Canon that I saw at the beachside Walmart, but they had none left on my visit Wednesday and sent me to Palm Bay. Here is what the camera looks like... So on Thursday past, I headed to the Palm Bay WalMart to see if they still had it in stock. Interestingly, the person who was sent to the camera area to help me was a young man with Down Syndrome. He was very helpful and found the camera. When he saw that it was red, he said it would be better if it was blue and orange. I asked if he was a Gator fan and he said yes, big fan. He wanted to know my favorite college team and I told him I did not have o

Request for a request

After my first post on the Quest for the World's Best Bloody Mary, I received requests from people to go along on this re-quest. At this time, I am using the quest as a way to get my friend Jim out of the house during the week and give him and I some time together. So Jim and I went out again on Thursday, March 2, to try a few more places. We did talk about inviting others on a Sunday run, which will be to places that do special Bloody Marys on that day only. That lists include Meg O'Malleys and the Time Out Bar in Cocoa Beach. I also heard about Tracy's Bar in Suntree and any others people may suggest. I had Jim pick me up at my house since my plan was to hit downtown Melbourne. He said I could drive his truck which I did, and I found out it is a pain in the ass to try and park a truck after driving a car for most of my life. We left the house at 11:16 AM.
