New Restaurant #22 - At The Port

Image
After taking pictures of the SpaceX launch, I saw that it was only four o'clock so I thought I stop at one of the restaurants/bars at Port Canaveral. I have included a Google map of the area, my choices were Milliken's Reef, Rusty's Seafood, Fishlips, and Grills Seafood. All places I have been and I knew had cold beer. But as I was turning into Flounder St, I saw the Rising Tide and I was hoping they opened at 4 PM since it was only 4:02 PM. Sure enough, they were open. The full name is Rising Tide Tap & Table. According to Brandon, my bartender and server, it had been open three weeks as of Monday, October 30. I took this photo of the place as I walked up from the parking along Mullett Road. The sun was creating a shadow of the name on the side of the building. I took it as a good sign! They have outside dining on the deck, and there are two entrances to the place. This side of the building is the bar side and entry is into a large room with a huge bar and man

SpaceX Launch on a cool afternoon

Image
The cold front had come through and it was a cool, crisp fall day in Brevard County Florida.  A SpaceX launch was scheduled for the afternoon so I knew it would be a great day to head to Jetty park to take some photographs of this launch. The Falcon 9 would be carrying a satellite for Korea. I got there early but the crowd was thin. There were people fishing and the US Navy boat was patroling the waters. The machine gun was not manned... I stopped at the Jetty Park store for a Diet Coke, it had the name Jordan on the side. The Fishlips Restaurant was back open for the first time since hurricane Irma. It was great to see thimgs getting back to normal at the Park. The fishing pier was still closed so I would have to get my photos from a different vantage point. The patrol ship was swinging out to the end of the channel, where a large barge was dredging up crap from the bottom and dumping it onto another large barge. There were people on the pier but they had crossed the rocks to get

Celebration of Life Photos

Image
Sometimes, words are not necessary. The day of John's Celebration of Life turned out to be a great Vermont Fall day and we had friends, family, food, fire, and beer. Here are the photos I took. I wished there were more but I seemed always to be talking with people about John. Enjoy! If anyone took a picture of me while giving my talk, please share with me. Thanks!

Ode to the Geese

Image
As I sat out on my brother's deck, I heard some honking, "What the heck?" There above me in the sky to see, Were many birds flying in a vee. Canadian Geese, there was a lot, I got my camera to get a shot. The minute I returned to take aim, the birds were gone with no one to blame.  I wanted a photo of the geese as they flew, To answer a question that not everyone knew. Why is one line longer when in the sky, The vee is not even, what's the reason why? What science behind this flying method, Some strange theory that can be tested? Tom said he knew the answer if I don't mind, "There are more geese in the longer line!" Writing an ode to include some jest, Was just a part of my true quest. I wanted a photo of these geese flying away, The direction was Northwest, Addison way. Twenty minutes away was a place called Dead Creek, Looking for geese, what harm to take a peek. There were signs telling me I was in the right place, The valley
