Rain-bo Island

New restaurant number 19 for 2018. I found this place through a post in Facebook on the 321 Flavor group. This group is run by the food critics at Florida Today, the local newspaper. Discussion on places to dine. Someone asked about poke bowls and this was recommended. It is located on Airport Blvd just off 192. Here are the menus from the FaceBook page they have. Drinks, including my favorite, boba... Bowl menu... It is an order at the counter type place, and they do have a few tables but very small. I got mine to go to enjoy at home. Here is a photo of my salad and drink... I got the regular bowl which comes with two scoops. My base was brown rice. My protein was one scoop of spicy tuna and one scoop of spicy salmon. My sauce was yum-yum sauce. My four toppings were ginger, cucumber, pineapple, and seaweed salad. She made to-order the spicy tuna and salmon together by adding the hot sauce to the raw fish. I had her add some chives and sesame seed as she mixed it

Capt'n Butchers in Sebastian

This was restaurant 18 for the year, just one behind my biweekly schedule. I drove down to Sebastian to visit the Restaurant called Capt'n Butchers... The place is more than just a restaurant. It is also a marina and they have riverfront (Indian River Lagoon) lodging too. It all has been recently renovated... If you are familiar with River Rocks in Rockledge, or the now defunct Island Pasta in Melbourne, then you will be happy to know it is the same owners. I think their beer is distributed by Budweiser, but that is just a guess... The dinner menu looked a little pricey, but the choices were similar to River Rocks. Here is part of the dinner menu... I started with a Yuengling and my second beer was the Dragon Point IPA brewed at the Intracoastal Brewery in Eau Gallie. They did have a lunch menu and there were specials. My trip down from Melbourne went a lot faster than I planned so I arrived right at 11 AM, their opening time. Bobbi Jo, the bartender was st

New Restaurant and other food

It has been a while but I finally hit a new restaurant. In Satellite Beach, there is a new place on a familiar spot. It is called the Shuck Shack. If you have lived in the area for a while, you will remember it as The A-Frame. After that, it became Bunkys. Since then it has been a few other places but most have not succeeded. I think The Shuck Shack has a chance. The building is now green laced with palm fronds. They have built a beach out front along A1A with many picnic tables. Looks nice but it was too hot to be outside. I took a photo of a part of the menu which had a picture of the A-Frame, and they serve the same wet beef sandwich... My bartender (I sat at the bar) was John, and he said everything was good. I asked for beer deals and they had pint drafts for $2.50, I think it was Landshark. I also ordered a cup of Clam Chowder... As I was drinking my beer, two older gents sat at the bar next to me. I recognized one as my old friend Dom, who lives in Satellite Bea

Red Sox vs Rays

It is hard to believe that a week has passed since I saw the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 5-1. The game was at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The uniforms were different with names being Nicknames. Wade Boggs threw out the First Pitch and the giveaway was a Bobblehead of Wade. Here are some of my photos from the game... Wade Boggs after the first pitch... The national anthem was played on a horn... He used to catch for the Nationals at Spring Training... Bubblegum replacing chew? Benny at first and in the stands... Two 44s... Olympic Gold was there too... The bobblehead...
