Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, my visiting new restaurants and other places has slowed way down. I only started to travel again this year with a trip to Vermont. Now I am trying to hit some new places in the area where I live in Florida.
My first stop was the Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA) located just over an hour south of my house. I had been to the are before, Riverview Park, for a Pirates Festival. I was just across the street from the museum. The reason for my visit was to see the M.C. Escher exhibit. Funny, I found out about it from one of those annoying ads in Facebook. I guess this one was not too annoying.
I have always been a fan of Escher, and own a book of most of his art, but I had never seem his art in a museum before. I am glad I went. The first three pieces are favorites of mine.
They also had some of the original wood blocks.
They also had a few with witches which I do not remember seeing before, but I liked them...
The VBMA has other works on display and they have an outside garden with some exhibits.
It was a little cloudy and cold so I headed back inside to visit the other works. I found this next one interesting...any guesses on the artist?
It is an original by this artist...
My trip to Vero Beach was a great one and I am going to keep an eye on the museum. The Museum I was a member of in Melbourne (actually Eau Gallie) closed down.
I also went to visit a new eating establishment. It is a Mexican place named Cazadores and is located on Eau Gallie Causeway in Indian Harbour Beach. For you old timers, this use to be the ABC with the rotating bar. Outside view from behind.
The place is big with lots of tables and booths and a very big bar....
They do have a lunch menu but I seemed to cutoff the combo specials at the bottom. That is what I ordered...
They brought out chips and salsa. The chips were hot and crispy and the salsa has a good kick to it. The beer is a Dos Equis Amber which they have on draft. The combo is a chicken enchilada, ground beef burrito, served with rice and beans. There was plenty of food for a lunch serving. I really liked their refried beans, not sure what flavor was added but it was good.
As my habit now, I usually like to visit the Hombre room. I liked the art at the end of the hallway.
My waiter, Jose, saw me taking a picture of the Christmas tree and asked if I liked it. I said that I did and asked if he helped put it up. He said he did. I could tell he was proud of it.
It was around 2PM when I visited so their was no crowd, but the service and food were both great. I give the place a 3.0 (Great).
And I must end with a Funny...Merry Christmas to all...
