Gathering photos for the fourth cycle of my life, the folder was getting too big for a single post, so I decided to split the last 17 year cycle into smaller parts, lets call each a pop-cycle. The first pop-cycle contains the first six years, and at the end of it I retired from ENSCO. So the last eleven years will be in a separate post (or two). A funny thing is that I spent 34 years at ENSCO, two full cycles.
In the fall of year one of the fourth cycle, I traveled to Vermont for a vacation. Besides seeing lots of relatives and friends, I did take in a Middlebury College Soccer game against Williams. It was November 2008. I love the tree. Just off to the right is Porter Hospital where I began all these cycles and pop-cycles.
My cat
Pumpkin is enjoying her new scratching post she got for Christmas 2008.
In May of 2009, I travelled to Vermont for another visit. This two-humped camel hung out at a farm on SR 7. I guess she thought she was one of the sheep.
My oldest sister got very sick in 2009. Sadly, she passed away soon after this photo was taken. That is her daughter Lori holding her daughter Morgan, and I am holding Lori's son Rowan. In the back is brother Tom with his son Brandon.
We created a memorial for Pat on Clearwater Beach.
The start of year two was sad, but year in year two I played in the Vermont Cabin Fever tournament put on by Rodney Bicknell. This one was held in Longwood Florida.
Also in 2010, I celebrated my 30th year with ENSCO. I started on March 17 in 1980, that is why the cake is green. Hey, there is that 17 again...
In the fall I flew to Vermont and took this great shot from my Delta flight of the town of Middlebury Vermont. I spent my whole first cycle living there.
Also in year 3 I got to play pool against the Orlando Magic Head Coach, Doc Rivers. I had brought my nephew Jared and his wife Sarah to meet the team and interact with the players and coaches. A perk of being a Magic Season Ticket holder. Jared took the photo, or was it Sarah?
I ended year 3 of the fourth cycle visiting California with Tom and Karen. Friends of Karen's family lent us his condo in Palm Springs. It was very hot out.
Tom and I on the pier in the Pacific at Newport Beach. It was a little cooler there. I did not wear my hat that way, Karen wanted to see my face. I look like I should be skateboarding...
In year four, I took this morning shot of the Shuttle Discovery taking a flyover on a 747 at PAFB (now PASB). Although not well seen in the photo, that is AFTAC below the shuttle, the place I spent working most of the 34 years.
I tried my hand at Legos. This Volkswagen Bus was only 1,334 pieces. My parents owned a similar camper when I was in High School.
At the end of year four, I visited Vermont again. Here I am with my two brothers John and Tom, visiting our great friend Tim Bushey at his camper on Lake Champlain.
Started 2013 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, watched Georgia beat Nebraska. The MVP of the game was Georgia QB Aaron Murray.
Started 2014 with a trip to San Diego. This is (R to L) my nephew Brandon, his brother Josh, and Josh's wife Claudia.
We took a trip up to Cabrillo State Park and I took this great photo of San Diego and the Military Airport. We saw some fighter jets take off.
Brother Tom and I took a tour of the Air craft carrier Midway. That's Tom taking a photo.
You can't go to San Diego and not visit the Zoo. They had Pandas...
When I got back, I got to go to a wedding and see my ENSCO co-workers Jeff and Elaine tie the knot. Good thing, they have not untied it yet.
Then there was a celebration of my time at ENSCO. Norm Bush, who was the company president for many years, talked at my going away slide show. Not to be out done, I presented my own slide show.
We also had a Berm party at the Washington Nationals spring training game against the Houston Astros. I got to through out the first pitch. That is my friends out on the Berm in left field. Yes, they have a bar out there...
About Title
"The Night Before" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1965 film Help! and soundtrack album of the same name. It was written primarily by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. Described as a pop rock or rock and roll song, its lyrics reflect on the singer's last night with his lover before being abandoned.
Recorded in February 1965, "The Night Before" was the first Beatles song to feature electric piano, played by John Lennon. Its film sequence was shot the following May, showing the band miming to the track on Salisbury Plain. The Beatles only played the song live once, during their final BBC Radio performance. In contemporary interviews, McCartney said that it was one of his favorite songs from the Help! film and one of the Beatles' best recordings up to that point. Critics have given it mixed reviews, with some praising it while others dismiss it as insignificant. Many fans consider it one of the Beatles' best early songs. George Martin, Herbie Mann, Josie Cotton, and Restless Heart are among the artists who have covered it.
