"Glass Onion"

Being Thanksgiving, I thought it appropriate to indulge myself with food. I have been to four more new restaurants in the last few months to keep pace with twelve for the year 2025. Part of my bucket list for the year was to visit 12 new restaurants and go to 52 different places (weekly). Here is where I currently stand. I have already wrote a post on Bunky's but decided to include it here too.

#11 Boardwalk Bar & Grill

Visiting last week for the first time, this place is located along the Boardwalk in Indiatlantic do it is appropriately named. It use to be a Wendy's.

You know a place is fancy when they have personalized coasters...

The draft beers selection  but this Hurricane Reef cost me $8. I think the window behind the taps use to be the drive through for Wendy's.

From my bar stool, I could see into the kitchen area. I was looking for square burgers.

I ordered the Ahi tacos; there were three. The tortillas were homemade but hard to bite so I ended up breaking them down and ate like nachos. It was very delicious with a lot of raw tuna...

I did not realize that it came with fries which the bartender told me are cut fresh each morning and blanched. I will admit, they were excellent and sorry to say, I ate them all.

I gave the place a 3.5 (Great to Excellent). I will be back to try other things. When they first opened, they were only doing dinner but now have added a lunch menu...

#10 Bunky's Raw Bar

Yes, I know, Bunky's is not new. But this one is. The Bunky's on A1A, formerly owned by my great friend Don, has expanded and bought the old Charlie & Jakes in Suntree. They have made many changes inside. The outside looks the same.

I sat at the bar, there were only one other couple in the whole building. I found that they had just started to open for lunch during the week, and plan a grand opening in early December.

I asked about the jar of pineapples. She said they were stewing in vodka and they were using the vodka for a special martini. I wanted a slice of the pineapple. I ordered a cup of the clam chowder.

Bunky's were always known for their oysters and these were great, the cheapest from Virginia. They also had them from Long Island and Prince Edward Island in Canada. I remember when I could get 25 cent oysters and yes I am getting old. These were $2 each. I did like the extra sauce they gave, someone suggested it was a malt vinegar.

A view of the bar area with dining tables beyond...

Looking toward the brewery area. They are not currently brewing but there was a lot of activity back there. I am planning to start stopping here after Zoo visits.

They still have an outside dining area but no bar out there.

I gave the place a 3.5 (Great to Excellent). BTW, the Canadian oysters were $4 each...

#9 Fiesta Bar & Grill

Located in downtown Melbourne on New Haven. I was not planning to stop here but they had a sign for $2 tacos, a better deal than $2 oysters, and no, I did not eat a dozen.

The sign that lured me in...

They have a tiki bar inside

And looks like they may have live music sometimes. I can tell you, there were not many people here and the place seemed a little grungy, like it was a bar first, and a food establishment second.

I ordered three tacos, a beef, a pork and a chicken. Because they were slow in serving me, the chef sent out a free fourth. I will admit, although not big, they were very tasty.

I give the place a 2,5 (Good to Great) because of the food. Not sure if I will be back.

#8 Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza

Located in Viera, by the new Publix along Stadium Parkway, south of Wickham Road.

It was lunch time and I ordered a personal Aloha pizza. They brought me some Garlic knots which were delicious.

On the table, they had an interesting lunch ad.

My pizza was full of ham and pineapple...It was delicious but I only ate half and took the rest home for dinner. Two meals from one visit.

Lots of empty tables...

The entrance as seen from the parking lot...

I gave the place a 3.0 (Great). I may stop there again after a visit to the Viera Wetlands.

Here are the 48 different restaurants I have been to so far in 2025. Only four more to go in December...

Not food related...

I found this interesting plot online. Living in Brevard, I have taking a lot of photographs of rocket launches but in the last few years, the pace is so great that I just take them when they are either manned or are going to land back here at the Space Center. BTW, we have hit 101 (or is it 102) launched for 2025.

About Title

"Glass Onion" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as the "White Album"). The song was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney.

Lennon wrote the song to confuse people who read too much into the lyrical meanings of Beatles songs, which annoyed him. Many lines refer to earlier Beatles songs, including "Strawberry Fields Forever", "I Am the Walrus", "Lady Madonna", "The Fool on the Hill", and "Fixing a Hole". The song also refers to the "Cast Iron Shore", a coastal area of south Liverpool known to local people as "The Cazzy". Lennon dismissed any deep meaning to the mysterious lyrics:

I threw the line in—"the Walrus was Paul"—just to confuse everybody a bit more. ... It could have been "the fox terrier is Paul". I mean, it's just a bit of poetry. I was having a laugh because there'd been so much gobbledygook about Pepper—play it backwards and you stand on your head and all that.

"Glass Onion" was a name suggested by Lennon for the Iveys, a group who signed to Apple Records in 1968 and later became Badfinger.
