"Good Morning Good Morning"
Good Morning, Good Morning
On Sunday. April 19, my visit continued in Saint Petersburg with breakfast at the Café located in the Museum of Fine Arta (MFA). After consuming a large cinnamon roll, my friend Teresa said we would take a walk on the St Pete Pier. Luckily, it is big area and long walk to burn some calories. The pier and pier district opened on July 6, 2020. The renovated St. Pete Pier features a variety of restaurants and sits on 26 acres of land.
About half way out I took this shot of the downtown area of Saint Pete. The MFA is just right of the people and the Parkshore Grille is just right of that.
There were a few ponds on the Pier and one had a duck family. Here is mom keeping an eye on her four little ones. Speaking of kids, Teresa's son Anders joined us for the walk, even though he had already run a 5K that morning. While he was running, Teresa and I were eating at the MFA.
I thought this was just a decoy duck until I took the picture and Dad turned to look at me. Mom was watching the chicks and Dad was watching Mom.
If you know St Pete, you know the Pier is located on Tampa Bay. This is looking North from the Pier. You can see boats in the North Yacht Basin.
Teresa liked this little one wheel bike this tyke was riding. I tried to get a photo but caught more of the mother's rear than I planned. I cropped so you can see the tyke on a bike.
The Pier has lots of vendors, which I did not photograph, and some interesting art work like this, which I did not catch the name of as we walked by.
I mentioned we were on Tampa Bay, and there was plenty of boat activity including this small sail boat.
The last building on the Pier is an interesting structure, and it does have food and souvenirs.
We only window shopped. A tee shirt through the window...
They do have a running tram that is continuously running. The pier runs along 2nd Avenue NE.
From the Pier looking South you can see the Albert Whitted Airport and the entrance to both the Central and South Yacht Basins. This is also close to the area where they have the Indy Car race.
I liked this art work...
Looks like it could be popular with skateboarders. Not sure of the rules...
I took this shot of Anders and Teresa in front of a large painting. The sandcastle is the Inverted Pyramid Pier which closed in 2013. Behind that is the current Pier structure.
I thought it interesting that you could get sun screen from this kiosk, for FREE.
I needed to sit for a moment after our 45 minute walk, so we went into Pioneer Park across from the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club. This blue Jay was also looking for a rest spot and a drink of water.
I want to thank Teresa and Anders for the nice walk, and showing me the new St Pete Pier.
