The cold front had come through and it was a cool, crisp fall day in Brevard County Florida. A SpaceX launch was scheduled for the afternoon so I knew it would be a great day to head to Jetty park to take some photographs of this launch. The Falcon 9 would be carrying a satellite for Korea. I got there early but the crowd was thin. There were people fishing and the US Navy boat was patroling the waters. The machine gun was not manned...
I stopped at the Jetty Park store for a Diet Coke, it had the name Jordan on the side. The Fishlips Restaurant was back open for the first time since hurricane Irma. It was great to see thimgs getting back to normal at the Park. The fishing pier was still closed so I would have to get my photos from a different vantage point. The patrol ship was swinging out to the end of the channel, where a large barge was dredging up crap from the bottom and dumping it onto another large barge. There were people on the pier but they had crossed the rocks to get there.
To waste time, I took a walk and found a picnic table had been moved to the channel side of the road. No one was there so I made myself at home. The first people to stop by were from up North. The guy talked like a redneck, and he was hard to understand. He said he was from Massachusetts but had been lving in Florida for a while. His Aunt was with him and she was from the Plattsburg New York area. I found out she was recently widowed and was thinking of moving to Florida. It was her first launch.
A truck pulled in with Connecticut license plates so the Mass guy went to talk to them. They were actually from Toronto and were renting the truck. A father and son, and they had tons of questions about the launch. I was happy to answer as many questions as they had.
Another couple asked if they could sit at my table. I said they could but they would have to help me to carry it back to the campground. They laughed and told me they were from Virginia. They had pulled into the campground at 3 pm and found out there was a launch so they walked over. More questions from them and more answers from me. Then the launch started at 3:34 PM, right on time.

It was a beautiful day for a launch and the rocket blasted off successfully. I met some new people and we were able to get along just fine. We talked of rockets and of Florida and the area, that was enough...
