Over the Top Restaurant

Image
I realize, having taking some writing classes while at the University of Vermont, that a title is important to draw in your audience to read your story. Nowadays, this has become corrupted by electronic ads and fake news reports that tell you one thing in the title and present something less in the story. The lead-in is bigger than the story now, even on the evening news. But I digress. I wrote on FaceBook recently and after rambling, ended by saying it was just BS from BJ. My friend Joan said I should start a new Blog named just that, "BS from BJ". But in actuality, my current Blog title is "How to fill time in retirement" and I can say honestly that creating BS is at the top of my time filling. Back to my title, it was meant as a double entendre. First, I did find an "Over the Top" restaurant that I will review (hey, another two meaning word) below. Second, as the year 2017 has come to a close, my bucket list item to see 26 new Restaurants (one every

Recently, in the Eau Gallie Art District (EGAD), there has been an increase in wall murals. Done under the Anti-Gravity Project, I decided to capture a few of the new ones plus a couple of the old... How many characters do you recognize? It looks like I missed a few, I will have to go back. I did capture #22 during the Art Festival in November...

Visit Dali & Schiaparelli Exhibit

Image
There is an exhibit called Dali & Schiaparelli that is running at the Dali Museum in St Petersburg from mid-October 2017 to mid-January 2018. I had the pleasure of seeing the exhibit in early December with my friends Teresa and Nancy. In 1936, Salvador Dali created his Lobster telephone. I took this photo on this visit. Of the many collaborations between Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali, the lobster dress is, without a doubt, the most famous. On this summer gown for the Schiaparelli Summer 1937 Haute Couture collection, he designed a lobster motif strewn with sprigs of parsley printed on white organdy. According to legend, Dali wanted to apply real mayonnaise on the dress, but Schiaparelli refused. This dress was immortalized by Wallis Simpson. They had a display of her in the dress that I have included here... It was among the 18 pieces of the trousseau that Elsa Schiaparelli had designed for her on the occasion of her marriage to the Duke de Windsor. The lat

Go to NFL Game

On Saturdy as I was walking around the mall trying to satisfy my new Fitbit, I noticed I had a message on my phone.  It was from my old friend and co-worker at ENSCO, Doug Burns. He said he had an extra ticket for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on Sunday and would I like to go. Initially, I said I was a maybe, but when I got back home I gave him a call. He was driving, the weather would be fine (no rain), and they were playing the Detroit Lions with Satfford at QB. I said I would go. I drove over to Doug's house and he got us to Tampa. We met up with another couple from Brevard who drove us to the game because they had a parking pass. It was a very cool day, but there was 0 percent chance of rain. We parked near Raymond James Stadium and headed to the game. Near the parking lot was one of the biggest flags I have ever seen flying from a flagpole. I think they use it to cover the stadium at night... Of course, there were lots of people tailgating and there were plenty of
