2018 - The Year I Did Nothing

I guess I took retirement to the extreme the past year. Basically, I did not get anything done. I did do my Bucket List of New Restaurants which I will summarize today. But, no travel, not even my usual trip to Vermont. I did not even leave the state of Florida for one day. What the hell? No cruises, no new states or countries, no exotic locales where I can drink Mai Tais or Painkillers?

I do have my rationalizations for my actions but in simpler terms, I was lazy!
And I am not getting younger. Well, I will not let that happen in 2019.

I visited 27 new restaurants in 2018, one more than was necessary.

It was a pretty good variety:

  • American  - 11
  • Seafood - 4
  • Mexican - 3
  • Asian - 2
  • Hawaiian - 2
  • 1 each of Barbecue, Cajun, Irish, Italian, and Japanese
Scores were in a normal distribution:
  • Good - 3
  • Good to Great - 6
  • Great - 7
  • Great to Excellent - 6
  • Excellent - 5
No Bads and no Memorables

Location was all Florida but that makes sense since I never left the state:

Tuesday would have been my father's birthday if he were still with us. Dad liked to eat at diners and places that served home cooking. Of course, my mom was the greatest home cooker around. So, in memory of my father, I drove to West Melbourne to have a late lunch at Ethel & Fred's Entree Restaurant. It is located in the Metro West Shopping Center at the corner of Wickham Road and US 192 (New Haven Avenue). "The Long and Winding Road"

 I met John Pitkethly back in February of 1980. Since then, it has been a Long and Winding Road , but John played an integral part in how my life turned out. He hired me as a Data Analyst I and I started ENSCO on March 17, 1980. And I retired 34 years later, as a Data Analyst II . Just kidding, I was allowed to flourish at ENSCO, and worked on many interesting projects with many unique scientists and software engineers. "Tell Me What You See" (Digital Hoarding XVI)

 I will admit, that my digital hoarding has become such that I cannot remember any more the details of each photo I have stashed away on my hard drive. At my age, my data storage (aka brain) is deleting things to make room for new things. So let me go through another group of photos, not taken by me but either sent to me, scanned from a hard copy, or just pulled off the internet including from Facebook.
