"With a Little Help from My Friends"

I have continued my food bucket list and sometimes it is easier with a little help from my friends. I got a text from Tim and than a call from Rodney that they were heading into Lou's Blues. We were expecting a front to pass through Brevard, but I joined them for a beer as they ate lunch.

From up North were Wanda Bushey, Tim Mitchell, Karla Berger and Rodney Bicknell. Unseen in this photo, which I took, was the dog Tessa, who is a big fan of Canova Beach, our local dog beach.

After eating, we headed down to the beach to watch the cold front enter the area. It was majestic

My fourth restaurant for 2025 was Ichabod's Dockside in downtown Melbourne. I had one of my favorites there, the Mahi Reuben. It is served with kettle chips. I was there with my cousin Patti, and Jackie and Stan who drove over from Oviedo. I think they all liked the place.

Here are the four of us outside Ichabod's Dockside after a great lunch: Stan, Jackie, Patti and me.

This place use to be a regular for my golf foursome when we played south on US1. It was always a good place for a beer or two and a good lunch. Usually, on a Friday, Mayor Harry Goode would be there too. Long time mayor of Melbourne, his store was just around the corner.

Speaking of favorite places, the next one was my third visit for 2025, and a place that has my name on the wall. We are talking Coaster's Pub & Biergarten. Located beachside next to the Walmart, I have been going there since they opened. Chuck, a drinking friend, was at the bar with Cathy the bartender...

They had their Mardi Gras menu. The beer is an Orange Blossom Pilsner, and the appetizers include Boudin Balls and Cajun Dumplings.

The Cajun Dumplings were served over some gumbo, with two shrimp and two crawfish.

The Boudin Balls, from the large mammal called a Boudin, were served with a Remoulade sauce. Actually the balls are a micture of rice and sausage that are deep fried.

My second beer was a Babycakes Oatmeal Stout from Walking Tree in Vero Beach.

Just like last year, I am trying to cook more. I recently purchased a cookbook from B&N titled What to Cook when you Don’t Feel Like Cooking. Here is the first recipe I tried for White Chicken Chili. All the ingredients.

The chili in the pot...

A bowl of the white chicken chili...

I did cook some corn bread to serve with the chili....

Let's just say, the first recipe was a success...

About Title

"With a Little Help from My Friends" is a song recorded by English rock band the Beatles for their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was written primarily by Paul McCartney with contributions from John Lennon, and is sung by drummer Ringo Starr (as Sgt. Pepper singer Billy Shears), his lead vocal for the album. As the second track on the album, it segues from the applause on the title track.

A subsequent recording of the track by Joe Cocker from his album of the same name became a success in 1968—topping the UK Singles Chart—and an anthem for the Woodstock era. In 1978, the Beatles' recording, paired with "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", was reissued as a single, and peaked at number 63 in Britain and number 71 on the United States Billboard Hot 100. Starr has regularly performed the song in concert as a solo artist. The song was ranked number 311 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
