Being retired for ten years, I have learned that I can do whatever I want, wherever I want, Any Time at All. The thing is you have to keep doing something or else you will get bored. I have a friend who recently retired and she says she is so BORED. I told her she needs to get a hobby or start drinking. A good hobby is drinking...
Here are some of the things I have been up to lately. I was at the Melbourne Library looking for some new reading material and I saw these books.

I looked up my Uncle Bob Shackett and his wife Rachel (Aunt Ray). Interestingly, in 1961, they had not moved to their house on Nixon Avenue yet. They were living at 259 Cedarwood Drive, which is close to where my cousin Joan currently lives. It lists Rachel as working as a waitress at Goodyear Pharmacy, not sure where that was. Uncle Bob was employed by FP&L which is where he was until he retired.
I need to do some more looking into other family members. As I was perusing the book I could hear the honking of geese outside the window. They were drinking water from the drain. That is Holmes Regional Hospital in the background.
I think I mentioned I volunteered at the Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing Championship. We got a new banner and small stage for medal photos. It was used by lots of people.
It was held at The Clemente Center on the campus of Florida Institute of Technology where I got my MS in Applied Mathematics.
I have made a spreadsheet of all the local breweries. The Walking Tall Brewery is in Vero Beach. I found the beers at a local store. I definitely want to visit the brewery.
I made a trip to Sebastian and had lunch at the Sandbar at Captain Hiram's Resort. I was thinking of getting oysters but that was not really shining for me.
So I ordered a shrimp po boy with a side of Cole slaw. The sandwich came with homemade remoulade.
The guy sitting next to me, Stan, was a regular and had this coolie on his draft beer. Found out he was a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. I got some great stories out of him.
They have a large fishing pier at Captain Hiram's. Apparently these white pelicans migrated here for the winter because of all the fish.
The sign on the pier...
They have a second restaurant called Blackfins that is a little more formal (aka expensive). Apparently Shaq must be a regular there because they put up this sign...
I drove from Sebastian all the way to Suntree so I could see the Tree Frogs play. The friends I usually meet up with were not there; Paul and Joan. Joan use to cut my hair and I wanted to let her know her grand-daughter Madison did my latest cut. The Tree Frogs...
I won't be coy but that is a koi. The band was playing at Grills just North of Pineda Causeway.
I finally did get my raw oysters at Bunky's beachside. This was a sampler of the grilled oysters including Fire and Rockefeller.
I did make it to the Zoo. There was a couple, newly married, getting photographs done around the area. As I walked by, I congratulated them and they both thanked me. They looked very HAPPY.
It was World Seagrass Day and Tyler Provoncha was working the Brevard Zoo booth.
There were some Bold Murals near the entrance. I took shots of three of them...
More eating at different places including the "Dirty" shrimp tacos with guac at Cabana Shores in Palm Shores.
This was the Red Dragon roll at Frigates in Eau Gallie.
The following must be an AI photo of the friends gang as little kids...
And this one just cracked me up...
So if you want to hit a restaurant or a brewery or go to the zoo, just call me, Any Time at All.
About Title
"Any Time at All" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles. Credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership, it was mainly composed by John Lennon, with an instrumental middle eight by Paul McCartney. It first appeared on the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night album.
Nice collection of places… Jose M.
ReplyDeleteI recognized the song title as from the Beatles but didn’t realize what album it was from. I like the way you weaved it into the piece. - Gaylen
