Dining 2026 - Weeks 3-4
Dining during the last two weeks was kind of slim pickings. I have a Doctor's Exam coming up so I usually dial down on my consumption of unhealthy food to make, hopefully, my blood and urine exams acceptable to my Doctor. But I did get out twice which keeps me on my schedule.
First, the simple Stats...

Here are the restaurants added since the last post...
1/23/26 - Nomad's Canteen - Scored 3.0 (Great)
This was my most go-to restaurant in 2025 and probably will be visited more than once in 2026. It opened back in June of 2024, located in a large building that was for most of my 47 years here an Antique Furniture Store. The first photo (on left side) does not do it justice but it shows the relative location on Eau Gallie Causeway heading towards US1. The shiny roof building on the right use to be Johnny's Bar and is now part of the Intracoastal Brewery.
My Aunt Peasoup use to be the bartender at Johnny's and my parents were regulars there which mad it easy for me to go also. Here I was actually taken a photo of the rising thunderstorm.
Just a fact, I had never been in that furniture store.
My visit to Nomad's Canteen is usually a random event. When heading home from my few beers at Lou's, I will stop at Nomad's if the parking spots in front are open. There are only two spots but they are open about 33% of the time. I ordered a Landshark and a special not on the menu.
I like to order different things including the Jaco Poke Bowl and the Cool Cuke Poke Bowl. The Jaco is coconut sticky rice with mango and avocado, heaped with spicy ahi tuna, on the left side. It is served with a spicy Coco sauce. The Cool Cuke is pickled cucumbers and Asian Slaw heaped with Spicy Ahi tuna, om the right side. It is served with a Creamy Wasabi sauce. If you ask for the 1/2 and 1/2 poke bowl, they just give you both in one serving, including both sauces.
1/24/26 - Lou's Blues - Scored 3.0 (Great)
Usually I just go to Lou's for a few afternoon beers on Mondays and Fridays, but I happen to get a call last Saturday from some Vermont friends who were at the dog beach (Canova) with their dog Tess. Owners Rodney Bicknell and Karla Berger were down for some Florida warmth. Tim Mitchell was also visiting and I got this shot of Tim throwing a frisbee to Tess. The beach is right behind Lou's Blues so us men went up for lunch while Karla enjoyed the sun and water with Tess.
Although I had my camera with me, I did not take any photos of our lunches. Tim got a chicken sandwich, Rodney got some wings, and I opted for the personal pizza with pepperoni. I had to find a previous photo of the pizza. All was great.
