Some more pictures I have collected and stored into my hoard of digital files. Some of these were sent to me, but most were collected off the Internet.
Places
The first two photos are by Caleb Kenna who takes a lot of great drone photographs throughout Vermont with an emphasis on the Middlebury area where he lives. The first is a shot of Battell block in the center of Middlebury. The lower right corner was where Ski Haus use to be, my favorite store for buying ski equipment and accessories. Main street goes off to the right and that is Merchant's Row where the cars are parked. The two red store fronts is where Dorias restaurant use to be, I was a part owner of that with Jim and Sharon.
This Kenna drone shot is on the Middlebury College campus. The building being built is where my nephew Josh is currently working. It was just a foundation when I was there this past August, To the far right is the cemetery where my parents and Provoncha grandparents are buried. The building in front is where I spent three years as a Hobart Engineer. Far left center is St Mary's Catholic church where I was Baptized and Confirmed. The building at the end of the crane is the dormitory where my sister spent her freshman and only year at Middlebury College. Interestingly, it is also named Battell.
We move from Vermont to North Carolina where an interesting photo was taken. This was the shooting of the opening scene to the Andy Griffith Show with Opie throwing a rock. Whistle along...
Staying in NC, I grabbed a photo of the cabin that my friends Al & Patty Siegel built. Beautiful.
The last shot is back to Middlebury College where this time lapsed photo of the total sun eclipse was taken. I was meaning to head up that way to view it but kind of glad I did not since the crowds were huge in the state. Middlebury was on the south end of the total eclipse path.
Groups
My nephew Israel sent me a link to this photo. It was taken during training for World War I at the University of Vermont campus. He wanted me to identify Grandpa, Albia Provoncha, in this mass of young Vermonters going off to war. Grandpa was an ambulance driver in France during the war.
I zoomed in and cropped to get a better view of my grandfather. He is in the middle of the seven men in the third row.
Sometimes I end up in the group photo. I am the fat guy holding a beer with an orange shirt on the right. This was at the Cocoa Art Show on the lawn of Area 142, The spot use to be where the famous Cocoa Beach Restaurant Bernard Surf was located.
If you head east to the ocean at the end of Minuteman Causeway, you would see the Surfing Santas, held each year near Christmas. That is a lot of red...
From People
Brandon and Debbie got a new puppy and sent out this Christmas photo. Too Cute!
My good friend since childhood, Rene Paquette, sent me a few photos from my brother John's wedding in Vermont. I had never seen these before. This is my Dad Harold and Mom Stella, just before the wedding. Not sure, but I think they are talking to a Paquette.
I was one of the many ushers at the wedding, and this is me escorting my Mom to her seat. I ended up in that tuxedo a lot longer than most people. Let's just say I got my rental fee worth.
My classmate and good friend Steve Payne sent me this photo. Amanda and Ernest were siblings to my Grandfather Albia, previously seen in Basic Training. Amanda married Altus B Huestis, a relative of Steve. I never met Ernest, but I did see Aunt Theressa many times at family reunions and visits on Monkton Road.
Another friend of mine, Tim Whitney, sent these photos of my brother John. Tim was hunting (and apparently drinking) buddies with John. The first picture is of Mike Rowe (great baseball pitcher), Tim's dad, and John saving the life of a beer bottle.
This photo is of brother John, Mike Rowe, and Jay Torrey, who was the best man at the John's wedding you saw earlier. According to Tim:
When we got to the top of the lift at the snowbowl we didn't realize they didn't stop to let people off, so it swung past where people get off and we all had to jump!! Had some people that thought it was pretty funny.. They did stop it to let us on to go back down.
The last picture is of my brother John and Tim's dad holding a large catfish Tim had caught in Lake Dunmore. That thing is huge.
Thanks Rene, Steve, and Tim for the great photos and the memories they bring back.
I should mention that Tim was also a great baseball pitcher.
Cartoons
If I see a cartoon I like, I usually grab it. I have visited the Dali Museum a few times in Saint Petersburg with my friend Teresa.
Although I currently do not have a cat, I like cat cartoons...
Another cat cartoon...
Misc
One of the places I use to be a regular was a bar called Coasters. This was the menu this posted during Mardi Gras. I meant to go and get some Boudin Balls. What is a boudin?
I just loved how somebody made use of an old typewriter and other metal objects.
Risky
If you are easily offended, you can stop right now. The rest are called Risky....for a reason.
This jigsaw puzzle is actually for sale online...
These are actual signs used on the Simpsons through the years...
