This post is about a wedding I went to on Sunday, May 19, 2024. I have been trying to title each new post with a Beatles song title. I knew these lyrics and thought it was about a man seeing a woman and wanting her in his life. You know:
The setting was Cocoa Beach behind the Ocean Landings Resort. I guess I was early...
The seats were empty because the sun was very hot. Luckily, there was a breeze off the ocean (would that be an ocean breeze) keeping it comfortable. As an added bonus to the wedding,
Thunder on the Beach was happening and speedboats were racing by...
The groom was Jason Provoncha, here arriving at the beach with his mother Janis and grandmother Roberta. Surfboard rentals were available.
A surprise to me, my cousin Jim, father of the groom, appeared to be doing the wedding ceremony.
After the rest of the wedding party arrived, two more groomsmen arrived to loud music and started handing out beer and liquor shots they had in baskets and cool belts that held more than a six pack. I think it was the first time I ever drank a beer during a wedding.
Half of the wedding party...
And then the bride Ashley arrived, being escorted by two men who I think was her dad and her stepdad, but I had already started drinking so I am not sure
And then the ceremony started, with Reverend Jim, Groom Jason and bride Ashley.
Jason unsuccessfully putting the ring on. Ashley's reason was hilarious, but you had to be there...
Reverend Jim, and proud Dad, announcing them as "Man and Wife". What a smirk!
And Jadon kisses Ashley...Yahoo!
The resort has a large banquet area set up for the reception. I did not take pictures of everyone, they had professional photographers for that, but I did catch a few. This my cousin Pam, the groom's Aunt, with her son Reid and his girlfriend Claudia.
My good friends and neighbors, Steve and Shelly Mielke.
Jim and his sister Patti reminiscing with some people who were at Jim & Janis' wedding back in 1989. The guy on the left is Paul, who was a young man at that wedding, who got really "pissed", the proper word in England for being drunk.
Then the wedding party arrived. The best man was Jason's younger brother Justin (on the right).
The newly wed bride and groom.
First dance for Mr. & Mrs.
Half the crowd.
And then the drinking and dancing started. Boy, was I getting "pissed".
Both the Best Man and Maid of Honor made their toasts. They both did wonderful.
A post would noy be complete without me taking a food photo. My chicken tortillas.
The wedding cake was beautiful.
And then the DJ played the FSU fight song. There were a lot of Seminoles there; those are axe chops.
I had taken a picture of my nephew Brandon and his girlfriend Debbie earlier, but he had closed his eyes, so this was a retake.
The proud parents of the groom, Janis and Jim Provoncha
Cutting of the cake...
Eating of the cake...
And a little more drinking...
And of course drinking leads to trying to left the groom with each person only using two fingers. It can only work if all participants are equally drunk. Not sure where this tradition started but I have seen it at many weddings.
And that ends my photo blog. Congratulations to Jason and Ashley!!!
About the title of this post.
"Got to Get You into My Life" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, first released in 1966 on their album Revolver. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The song is a homage to the Motown Sound, with colourful brass instrumentation and lyrics that suggest a psychedelic experience. "It's actually an ode to pot," McCartney explained.
