"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
I went looking for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and I found so much more...
Okay, I am getting behind with all the photographs I want to share with recent Wetlands and Zoo visits with family, and a few other things, but first I wanted to share my day at Jetty Park on Thursday, April 29. It was my second trip to Port Canaveral this week to see the launching of a SpaceX Heavy, which is three Falcon 9 rockets in one. When I got to Jetty Park, where I have a annual season pass, I quickly noticed that the gates were open to the Submarine Basin.
This usually means one thing, a visit by a Nuclear Submarine. There were lots of people waiting for the launch and many did not even notice the submarine as it entered the channel into Port Canaveral. The next four pictures are of this event. I was on the fishing pier, my spot for SpaceX landings. The submarine was escorted by two tug boats and you can see some of the sailors on the sub. I was told that sometimes they stay underwater for periods up to six months.
The last picture was less than 30 minutes before the next picture, the launch of the SpaceX Heavy at 10:13 AM. It immediately entered a cloud.
The early shots show the three rockets and then it slowly turns so it looks just like one.
As the rocket got higher and further East, it keep going in and out of the clouds. I was there because two of the three rockets were landing at Cape Canaveral.
You can see the two rockets being released as the third rocket continues to lift the ViaSat satellite into orbit. And the rockets start to fall back to earth.
Each rocket does an initial burn to slow it down, you just have to keep a watch. Here is rocket #1, and I also caught rocket #2.
This is rocket #1 landing at Landing Pad 40.
And this is rocket #2 landing at Landing Pad 2. They use to land next to each other but now there is some distance between the two.
The rocket #2 puts out its landing gear as it nears the ground. A few seconds later there are sonic booms that will knock your socks off. Luckily, I do not wear socks.
I then landed myself at 4th Street Fillin' Station on A1A in Cocoa Beach. This was my fourth visit and three of the visits my bartender was Bernice, standing in the background of the Bloody Mary, Spicy, that she made me. It was so good, I did a second landing myself and had another.
My lunch was a Bourbon & Bacon Chicken Sandwich served with homemade Kettle Chips. The Bourbon is in the Mayo sauce and I had the chicken grilled. You can also get it fried. There were two large slices of Bacon and tomato and cabbage. Yummy!!
